  Agnes was born in Clinton, Massachusetts and we grew up about 4 houses away. We used to skate and play pickup hockey in a pond in back of the house that we were told was hers. She had a natural beauty, though not the kind that most actresses needed to succeed. Clinton is proud to be her heritage!

  One of cinema's great supporting actresses second only to Thelma Ritter. Richly deserved an Academy Award on at least two of the four occasions of her nominations. Her losses to Teresa Wright and Lila Kedrova at her first and fourth nominations are Academy mistakes of historic significance. Although her legacy is most noted in television, she is one of films greatest and least honored legends of acting.
