Carlos Ponce is a singer and actor who has successfully transitioned from Spanish-language television to a distinctive Hollywood career in comedies like "Couples Retreat" and the TV series "7th Heaven." A Puerto Rican-American of Cuban descent, Ponce was a successful child actor in Puerto Rico, appearing in television commercials, and he continued to act once his family immigrated to Miami. In his teen years he was offered a chat-show job by the television station Univision. After that ended he dabbled in Spanish-language soap opera work and hosted another show for Univision while launching a singing career; his self-titled debut album topped the Latin Billboard charts for a total of nine weeks in 1998. Meanwhile, he launched a career in Hollywood, appearing on prime-time television dramas until he became a correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight" in 2003. From here he began to win bigger film roles, memorably as Rodrigo in the broad Rob Schneider comedy "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" and as Jessica Biel's characters husband on the later years of the religious family drama "7th Heaven."
