  • I knew her in the 1960's

I came to Hollywood in late 1959 and eventually ended up renting a sleeping room in a home in West Hollywood. Across the street was an old house that I would walk past on a regular basis. On the porch would be an old woman dressed in a long silk dress. One day I said hello to her and attempted to befriend her. She told me that her name was Greta Meyer and she had place character parts in many movies in the 30's and 40's and that she knew many stars from that era. I didn't believe her but one day she brought a trunk out and we sat on her porch and looked at her wonderful collection of personally signed movie star pictures and her stills from movies that she had been in. She was a sad figure and seemed so lonely. She surely was the typical Hollywood story of one who was left behind in Hollywood.
