I had to stay at home on Monday December 10, 2012 because we were having some work done in our house. Glad I got to spend the day watching many of Una Merkel's films as TCM was celebrating her 109th Birthday. What a gem of an actress. Happy Birthday Una!

Una is one that I am always happy to see in a movie. When in a scene she tends to heighten everyone's roles. She was the perfect movie companion and friend. When I think of Una I think of Eve Arden.

Una Merkel is outstanding and, imo, very underrated. I'd love to see her get a "Summer Under the Stars" day for August 2012.

I was watching "The Lovely Widow" for the first time and thought her presence was wonderful! What a nice find, on a old movie: pretty, funny and she had a great instinct for comedy. It appears that she lived a long life, too.
