A handsome, buxom stock company actress from San Francisco, Laura Oakley was very popular with movigoers in the 1910's. Long associated with various Universal companies, the formidable-looking Oakley was named honorary fire chief at the March 15, 1915, grand opening of Universal City. This was, no doubt, in recognition of her father and brother being California firefighters during this time. She retired from films in 1920 after her marriage to Milton Moore a cameraman in the business.
