  • MADE EVERY FILM BETTER

He seems to fit in every role he ever played, adding humor and humanity as needed. He was a man who every man I would ever have liked to have a beer with would have liked to have a beer with.

  • A unique character in film

I've enjoyed virtually every performance I've ever seen from him, regardless of the quality of the film. he was a unique character and was interesting just by his nature. He gave manly quality to all his rolls which cannot be duplicated by anyone in film today or since.

  • A MAN AMONGST MEN

    • WILLIAM T. SMITH
    • 2006-04-24

Victor McLaglen through his own personal life and experiences was able to transfer to the screen a rugged manliness which cannot be captured by acting ability alone but rather the radiation of a masculine charm which has not yet been duplicated because it has a true genuineness. While not the tailored actor, nevertheless he had a romance, a form of heroic ballet of figure and form of expression, that gave roles a sense of time in history, or "dare you cross his path", courage, loyalty, seriousness, framed by a magnificent physical image of masculinity never seen since. He was one of a kind!
