Charles McGraw played a pivotal part as Captain Frank Gibbons as counterpoint to Theodore Bikel who portrayed Sheriff Max Muller in the groundbreaking The Defiant Ones by Stanley Kramer in 1958.

Charles McGraw was one of those actors who never grabbed headlines, but you could be assure of a good perfomance from him either as a bad guy or as a good guy such as in Bridges at Toko Rei or One Minute To Zero. Not a bad cop either.
