My favourite actor. With a career spanning nearly fifty years this American-born Irishman became an international success in Britain before moving his family to America in 1970. Some of his most enduring work was for television, including over 60 hours as one of the first 'Secret Agents' on the screen. His tag-line: "My name? Drake, John Drake" has been echoed ever since as "Bond, James Bond". His subsequent series, 'The Prisoner', built on the literary excellence of 'Danger Man' in it's short, but hugely influential 17 hours. Since moving to America, Patrick McGoohan has regularly collaborated with Peter Falk in his 'Columbo' series, acting in four episodes and writing or directing in others. Patrick McGoohan also played the title character in a 1977 medical series for CBS, 'Rafferty'. The series only lasted 13 episodes and is still awaiting Home Release. Ina and around his television career Patrick McGoohan has made a number of feature films, including several with off-beat themes and little-known creators, as well as a number of mainstream movies. He returned to his theatre roots in 1985, making a Broadway debut a quarter century after ending a decade on the British Stage, in 1959. He is an inspiring and charismatic actor who has ploughed an independent furrow.
