Underrated hoofer!

Ray McDonald is not a name that many people know, but fans of old movies will likely recognize his face. I first saw him in "Babes on Broadway" when I was seven years old and even at that young age, I thought he was really cute! His dancing reminded me a bit of Ray Bolger, only a little more graceful. He has the same gangling, almost rubber movements. He tends to co-star in many Judy Garland films like "Life Begins for Andy Hardy", "Presenting Lily Mars", and "Till the Clouds Roll By." My personal favorite performance of his is as the shy football player in "Good News" who is persued by the team captain's girlfirend. He's very funny! I wish he had made more films, but the ones he did make are certainly classics. If you want to get a good laugh and see an example of a top rate tap dancer of thre 1940s, watch Ray McDonald!
