Marie McDonald was a popular actress and singer in the 1940's. The press nicknamed her "The Body". She was born in Kentucky and started modeling when she was a teenager. Her singing voice caught the attention of Tommy Dorsey who hired her for his radio show. She started getting bit parts in movies and got rave reviews for her supporting performance in Guest In The House. Marie landed a contract at MGM and was cast opposite Gene Kelly in Living In A Big Way but the movie was a failure. Her personal life always overshadowed her career. There were seven marriages (she married shoe magnate Harry Karl twice), an arrest, a fake kidnapping scandal, and a stay in a psychiatric hospital. She made a minor comeback in 1957 with a hit record and a Las Vegas show. Marie always said her favorite role was being a mother to her three children. Sadly in 1965 Marie died of an overdose at age 42. Her fans have never forgotten this beauty known as "The Body".
