makes it in Hollywood - Ms. Mayo (Mrs O'Shea) was not a biggie but she was good enough. I wish she would have had more roles like the one she had in "The Best Years Of Our Lives", a role showing that when asked to deliver - she did! Yes, a good actress who's sex appeal was never lost on me.
Simply the best...
What can i say that hasn't been said about her before? Simply beautiful, stunning is more like it and the ability to be versatile, she was, as someone here stated "under appreciated". No one like her since.
She's working her way through college.
Virginia Mayo was stunningly beautiful and started in this musical/comedy with Ronald Regan. The musical numbers were song and dance and performed by many support stars (who also backed up others like Doris Day in her films.) All and all a most entertaining film. Set in the post war era of the late 40's early 50's, GI's are returning to college and VM has been working in a burlesque house earning money to go to college. She returns to college where she joins the group who is to set up the school play and it is turned in to a musical. A jealous female finds out VM's past and attempts to oust her to take the lead in the play. Tons of easy comedy - played out in many ways in many other films - still works in this one. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Another underrated star
