A middle-aged man loses confidence after his wife, an ambitious singer, divorces him. Then, just as his new relationship with an insecure teacher is blossoming into a romance, his wife attempts a reconciliation. The seduction by his wife and the song she has written just for him help him make up his mind which woman to choose.

W. W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1974) as Hester Tate
W.W. is a happy-go-lucky crook who makes his living robbing banks through the drive-up windows. The Dixie Dancekings are a country music band trying to get their first big break. W.W. crosses paths with the Dixie Dancekings when he hijacks their car (and them) to help him rob a bank. At first, the band resists. However, when they discover how much money they make, they begin helping out voluntarily in order to finance their big break. At the same time, W.W. takes a liking to them and uses his natural charm and smooth-talking ways to help them start down the road to stardom.

Paul Crewe is a former professional quarterback who was ostracized when he was caught shaving points. After beating up his girlfriend and then resisting arrest, he is put in jail. The sadistic warden of the prison taunts Paul into helping his semiprofessional team of guardsmen win a championship game by creating a team of inmates to lose to them. Despite their initial hostility toward Paul for his point shaving, he wins the convicts over and together they form a winning team.
