Kathryn Isabell Rea -- aka Kay Kimber, Kay Rea, Kea Rea, Kay Rhea, Kathryn Marlow and other stage names (almost a different one per film). From the 30's through the mid-50s, she had an extensive stage and broadcast career. FILMS, HOLLYWOOD: In the 30s, more than 20 films under different stage names, including: Dodsworth, daughter, aka Kathryn Marlow Bridal Grief, Artists and Models (1937), China Passage. *** Rea should not be confused with the Kathryn Marlow of films in the 50s and 60s. While she was in NYC, Rea was asked by Fred Astaire in 1933 to be his dance partner in movies, so she left New York. At the RKO studio, Ginger Rodgers mother (head of RKOs wardrobe department) made sure that Ginger became Freds partner. Rea signed with Goldwyn, hence her appearances in films with several studios under different stage names because no one can understand how to pronounce Rea. In Iowa, Ronald Reagan worked with Rea on radio and advertising. After she went to Hollywood, Reagan moved there and asked to be introduced around, especially to a good agent. Rea obliged. After Reagan was signed for his first film, the contact ended.
