Ewing temporarily left "Modern Family" to take a supporting role in the sitcom "Up All Night" (NBC 2011-12) as a young actor client of co-star Maya Rudolph's character Ava, then a press agent. But when the film "Bridesmaids" (2011) became a smash success, NBC execs demanded a bigger role for the movie's co-star Rudolph, whose character became a demanding daytime talk show host, and Ewing's character was dropped before the series ever aired. In 2013, Ewing was seen nationwide in Wendy's marketing campaign that reintroduced their famous 1980s commercial catchphrase, "Where's the Beef?"
