Associating with Sam Warner, Levinson helped bring the first sound to motion pictures in the 1926 film "Don Juan." He also worked with Warners on "The Jazz Singer" and was head of Warner Bros. sound department. Starting as a wireless telegraph operator at the age of 14, he also served as a major in WWI. He began working in pictures in 1926, later receiving a special Oscar for his outstanding service in the industry as well as in the Army.
