A natural talent from Australia, Mia Wasikowska rose from relative obscurity to global attention with major roles on the HBO series "In Treatment" (2008-10) and in the films "Defiance" (2008), "Amelia" and "That Evening Sun." Her fresh-faced appeal made her the ideal choice for Lewis Carroll's heroine, Alice, in Tim Burton's special effects-driven version of "Alice in Wonderland" (2010). The casting choice vaulted Wasikowska to the top of the one-to-watch lists, and assured her status as a star in the making.
