Basch started his career on stage in 1904, making his film debut in 1913 and debuting as director in 1915. With his wife Grete Freund, they founded the Basch Freund Film, Berlin company and worked with many of the major stars of the era. In 1933, Felix and his wife went to America, returning to Paris shortly thereafter. At the outbreak of WWII, they moved to New York where Felix opened a restaurant.
