Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Louise Latham's film and television characters have a habit of getting themselves into trouble. Her best known role, that of Bernice Edgar in the Alfred Hitchcock romantic thriller "Marnie," was a prostitute who scarred her daughter for life in a case of mistaken intentions. The film starred Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren (as the disturbed daughter-turned-kleptomaniac), but Latham's spellbinding turn as the mother remains one of the more shocking and memorable aspects of "Marnie." Mysteries and thrillers clearly suited Lantham, because her career after "Marnie" is a road map of guest-starring roles on such iconic whodunits as "Colombo," "Perry Mason," and "Murder, She Wrote." She played a part on the UFO conspiracy TV series "The X-Files," as well as small roles in science fiction thrillers like "The Philadelphia Experiment," a big-screen retelling of the urban legend about United States Navy sailors who inadvertently travel through time. Louise Latham also appeared as herself on "Dog Whisperer," when the famous animal handler helped her with her Shar Pei's behavioral issues.
