Early Beginnings of a screen writer

I knew James Lee Barrett,When we were marines together at the rifle range barracks at Quantico,va. We were frequently on duty together at the motor pool office. .He wanted to be a writer and often wrote articles he wanted to have published.I believe he was studying creative writing. He was a generous person .His screen play for the Movie the DI. Was representive of his experience in boot camp. Possibly the fowled up marine called Owens was developed from his real life friend and fellow marine, Tom Owens and I was the misguided substance for the charactor. Jim was a swell guy from Anderson,North Carolina and a true southeran gentleman.
