Harriet Nelson (nee Hilliard) met bandleader Ozzie Nelson in the early 1940's, were married, and had two children, David and Ricky. The Nelson family became an institution in the 1950's when the "Ozzie and Harriet" TV sitcom typified them as the "ideal" American Family. Rick Nelson went on to become a teen heart throb and a successful pop singer in the 1950's,60's,and 70's.
