Hudson began her career as a TV copywriter and a local on-air personality in Charleston, SC, before handling promotion for three NBC affiliates in various Southern markets. She became a vice president in 1979 and handled corporate relations and advertising for NBC through the 1980s, eventually assuming responsibility for NBC's division of corporate communications in 1988. With her appointment as senior vice president in 1989, Hudson became supervisor of NBC Media Relations, Corporate Communications, Employee Relations, Talent and Media Services, Editorial Services and Corporate Events and Travel Services. After four years, though, she left her executive position to become a producer affiliated with NBC Productions. In 1996, she returned to the executive suites, this time as senior vice president of corporate communications at Reader's Digest Association.Hudson is married to TV journalist Boyd Matson.

Notes

In September 2000, Henton was injured in an automobile accident while driving on a freeway in California. According to police records, Henton was driving "at a high rate of speed" when he rear-ended another vehicle and then crashed through a chain link fence.
