I was never an old movie kind of person before I watched Grace Kelly in "Rear Window." Her beauty and excellent portrayal of the rich girl who is in love with a photographer, Miss Lisa Fremont, caused me to give the 1950's a second look. I followed up "Rear Window" with "To Catch a Thief." Now with "To Catch a Thief," I wasn't pleased with the overall story, but my absolute favorite parts were when Grace Kelly was on screen. I then tried "Dial M for Murder," which I found to be quite an awesome movie. Shortly afterwards, I began to hunt for her more obscure movies. The movies that I could not get by simply waltzing to my local library. No, I had to dig deeper, and deeper I dug. I stalked TCM's movie schedule for weeks, hoping I would stumble upon "High Society," "The Swan," or maybe even "The Country Girl" if I was lucky. I finally caught "High Society" and loved it to pieces. I am now in the middle of "Green Fire" and "The Swan." I am loving both so far. Every time I sit down to watch on of her movies, I can't help but wish that she was still alive today. If she were alive, then I would at least a miniscule chance of meeting her, or I could attempt to write a letter to her. She was a gorgeous woman all through her life, and I'm sure that if she were still alive today, she would be beautiful. There is one thing that I always say to people when I recommend a Grace Kelly movie to them. It is simply, "Grace Kelly is the most elegant woman I have ever seen. Just seeing her on screen seems like a privilege." Although her film career was quite short, I think that, in a way, that is almost a blessing for her because then she is immortalized in a handful of movies that really show off all the good things about her, and she was able to remain in good standing by not causing too much attention to be directed to her since she was a big star. Grace Kelly is an incredible actress, and to truly understand this, one only needs to watch one of her movies.
Me and a friend are studying Grace Kelly for a history project... she seems really classy :)
Grace Kelly is my favorite actress of all time!!! I hate how she died!! So sudden and very sad. I am 14 years old and I have been a fan of classic movies for about a year. I have been watching them since I was born though!! Grace was one of the most beautiful, elegantly dressed, and talented actresses of the 1950s. I think that the reason that all of her movies are good or better than that is because she is in them! Even if she wasn't acting well, I would be staring at her! I am not saying that Grace did not act well sometimes, I just think that if I knew her, I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes off her!! Talk about beauty!! I have read over five-hundred pages on her life. What a fairytale!!!! She is one of the most remembered actresses of the classic age. But, most people I know, don't even know her!! What a shame!! I wish she won't stop being remembered!!!! I truly wish she is happy wherever she is!
My all-time fav actress
I absolutely love Grace Kelly. She was such an amazing actress. She was elegant and beautiful. Although she was in her early twenties during most of her movies, you never would have known. She appeared much older in her movies then she actually was. She has a very fascinating life story too, being a princess and all. I would have loved to have meet her. My favourite Grace Kelly movies are the 3 she did with Hitchcock: Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, and To Catch a Thief. I find Dial M gets better everytime I watch it because each time I understand it more and more (hey- I first saw it when I was 15, so it was a little confusing). She was stunning in Rear Window. My heart always pounds in her most thrilling scene (if you've seen it, you know which one). To Catch a Thief is such a beautiful movie. It may not be the most suspenseful Hitchcock movie, but it's great fun. If you haven't already, I suggest you check out some of her movies (like the ones I've already named) and read up on her.
A Good Actress with a Short Career
Grace Kelly was a quality actress...who appeared in some fine films with fine directors and fine scripts. She gives the impression...unlike many other actresses who scrapped their way to the top...of beginning at the top, and staying there...in a very brief career. She was born into Philadelphia high society...and that remained the basis of her reputation....besides her singular, classic beauty. She's hard to rate...She was a very bright star, for a very short duration.
One Word Beautiful
Where to start?
One of my favorite actresses of all time. She was so elegant and beautiful. My favorite films she did were Dial M For Murder & Rear Window. I only wish she had made more movies. :]
One of the memorable film icons
Grace Kelly is my favourite film star, not only was she a good actress but she helped run Monaco alongside her husband. My favourite films of hers was the bridges at toko-ri and the country girl, William Holden was a good co-star and they worked well together. It was sad how she died, but hopefully she will still be remembered for years to come.
