Unable to complete the deal by telephone, advertising executive Roberts (Don Porter) sends his assistant Ann (Joan Fulton)to Cuba to lure a Cuban band, led by Desi Arnaz, on to an American radio program. Attracted to Ann, Arnaz and his band come to New York but complications arise when the squeaky-voiced, addle-brained sponsor (Jacqueline de Wit)of the program decides she wants to be the vocalist on the program. Ethel Smith, the King Sisters and the dance team of Igor & Yvette are on hand to fill out the remaining hour of this 20-minute plot.

Jean (Brenda Joyce) takes the job of caretaker/companion (before the word took on a completly alternate-life style meaning) to blind woman Zenobia (Gale Sondergaard.) Also hanging around the house, in this horror/western, is Mario (Rondo Hatton), a deaf-mute servant who evidently wasn't much help to Zenobia when it came to identifying the source of a noise Zenobia couldn't see. Jean is a little slow in realizing that Zenobia is slowly killing her by taking her blood. Nothing personal. Zenobia needs her blood to feed some plants. She uses the blossoms of the plants to make poison to kill cattle in order to drive away the local ranchers so she can buy all the land...cheap.

Eleven Gilbert & Sullivan numbers are melded within the murder-mystery plot of "Girl on the Spot", with a result that either G&S and/or the plot are always seemingly on stage-wait or in the wings awaiting a cue. Lois Collier is the girl-on-the-spot of the title because she was on the scene of a murder. The police conclude she didn't do it and they use her to set a trap for the real killer, a G&S addict, by financing a Broadway production starring Collier. The police department evidently found the money for financing a Broadway show under "Misc.Expenses" in the city budget.

Indian Agent Kip Lewis arrives in Gun Town where Buckskin Sawyer is having her payroll shipments robbed by Indians. Kip and his men are ready the next time and learn the robbers are white men dressed as Indians. Kip finds Davy Sawyer's case at the scene and confronts him. When Davy accuses Talbot whom he lent it to, Talbot shoots him. But Davy names Talbot before he dies and Kip goes after him.

A pretty school teacher (Lois Collier)---make that a very pretty school teacher---, a doctor (Don Porter) who disapproves of the white man's attitude toward Indians, and a young Indian boy (Buzz Henry) do what they can in the modern west to keep Robert Wilcox and his henchies (the usual Universal suspects headed by Dick Curtis) from capturing and killing a wild horse herd so Wilcox can sell the hides. It all looks bigger than it is because director Wallace Fox makes liberal use via stock footage of the massive wild horse herds from Universal's 1936 "Stormy."

Hal Moffat (Fred Colby before disfigurement, Rondo Hatton afterwards) who is taking wholesale revenge by murdering those he holds responsible for his predicament, is befriended by Helen Paige (Jane Adams), a blind piano teacher, and he develops a warmth for her that leads him to add thievery and robbery - no big deal, he is out there anyway - to his murders so that she can be provided with the money for an operation.

Attorney Wayne Fletcher and his secretary are having an affair, so when Wayne's wife is found smothered to death, he becomes the prime suspect. As the police investigate the murder, a psychic with questionable motives tries to contact the deceased woman. Soon, Wayne begins seeing visions of his dead wife, and other people involved with the case begin to be killed, one by one.

Oil is discovered on the ranch lands causing the dormant Remington-Randall feud to break out again. Lew Remington (Rod Cameron) returns home to find himself embroiled in the struggle. The Randall faction is represented by Bob Randall (Eddie Dew), who is the unwitting tool of John Heydrick (Gene Roth) and his henchmen who have a vested interest in and gains to be made if the feud continues . Both Bob and Lew are in love with Ellen Tanner (Jennifer Holt) who tries to warn both men that they should work together to save the Pecos country from the crooks.

Oklahoma Raiders (1944) as Art Director
Oklahoma Raiders is yet one more Betty Burbridge re-working of an original Bennett Cohen story ("Come on Danger,1932", "The Renegade Ranger, 1938", "Come On Danger, 1942" and "Alias Billy the Kid, 1946" among a couple of other uses), usually commissioned by Cohen or Oliver Drake as Associate Producers of whichever version they were involved with. In this one, the hero is an investigator sent by the U.S. Army rather than the Texas Rangers, but the roots show quickly. During the Civil War, Union Army Lieutenant Steve Nolan (Tex Ritter) and Corporal Banjo Bonner (Fuzzy Knight) are assigned to trail and capture "El Vengador/The Avenger", outlaw leader whose band is stealing herds of wild horses before they can be delivered on contract to the Army. Disguised as an unshaven, seedy cowpuncher, Steve arrives in Benton, Oklahoma territory and witnesses the robbery of the post office by Duggan (Dick Alexander) and Higgins (I. Stanford Jolley), henchmen of Arnold Drew (Jack Ingram), who holds the contract to deliver the horses. Steve stops the two robbers but is wounded by the unseen Drew. The townspeople assume the unconscious Steve is part of the gang, and Judge Clem Masters (John Elliott) instructs a deputy (Ethan Laidlaw) to take Steve to the next town to have his head-wound treated. Drew orders Duggan and Higgins to ambush the wagon and kill Steve, but they shoot the deputy instead, and the team runs away with the helpless Steve. He is dumped over an ambankment just as Donna Ross (Jennifer Holt), Todd Wingate (Dennis Moore) and Boone Talbot (Stephen Keyes) arrive on the scene. Donna takes Steve to a hideout in the mountains, where she is revealed as El Vengador, leading a group of dispossed ranchers against Drew and land agent James Prescott (George Eldredge), who have illegaly taken over the rancher's lands, so they can take over the contract of furnishing the horses. Steve is nursed back to health by Donna and returns clean-shaven to Benton to gather evidence against the Drew/Prescott gang, but Donna and Todd think he is a spy that has betrayed them. Former Universal (1937-1939) western star Bob Baker is relagated to just a bit as a cowboy leaning against the saloon bar, and one of the lynch-mob leaders later on.

The Buckaroos, cowboy musicians, are forced down at Little Lip, Texas, while flying to Hollywood to make their first movie. Band members Bucky (Johnny Downs), Phil (Eddie Quillan), Jack (Jack Teagarden), Chuck (Jimmie Dodd) and Giner (Connie Haines)find a "no vacancy" sign at the hotel. A sudden mining boom has exploded the population and, in fact, lured the local cowhands to the mines, leaving the Bar-B ranch foreman, Cactus (Leon Errol), short-handed and short-tempered. Desperate for a place to sleep, the Buckaroos check their instruments and sign on as Bar-B ranch hands, planning to resign the next morning. They find the Bar-B owned by Sally Barton (Vivian Austin.) Their true identity is discovered and the town telegrapher tells the world that the Bucharoos are doing their war bit by helping out with the harvest. When Hollywood calls, and Bucky and his pals leave, Sally thinks Bucky used the Bar-B and her to gain publicity. But Bucky talks the producer into shooting the picture at the ranch so the harvest can be completed, and he and Sally are reconciled.

The Andrews Sisters take a hiatus from show business to aid the war effort. They take on jobs at a pipe-organ plant now making artillery shells. But they still find time for plenty of singing and dancing.

When crafty Doc Wallace (Joseph J. Greene) sends for Johnny Trent (Tex Ritter) and his pal, Kansas (Fuzzy Knight) to come home to the Trent ranch in Arizona, Johnny meets Martha Brooks (Janet Shaw), who is caring for his invalid father (Erville Alderson), whose ranch some unknown enemy is trying to wrest away, as it has become suddenly valuable. Aided by Wayne Carson (Dennis Moore) and Martha, Johnny uncovers the culprit to be Doc Wallace, the supposed family friend.

Frontier Law (1943) as Art Director
Riding south from Montana, Jim Warren (Russell Hayden) and his friend, Ramblin' Rufe (Fuzzy Knight), discover that Jim's old pal, Dusty Norton (Dennis Moore), is working for triggerman Joe Hawkins (Jack Ingram). Later, Jim and Rufe see cattleman Frank Rodgers (Hal Taliaferro) kill cattleman Farrell (Michael Vallon) in self defense, after a dispute about the illegal grazing of Farrell's stock on Rodgers' land. The only other witness is Lois (Jennifer Holt), Rodgers' daughter. Rodgers is jailed, and Hawkins, who has also been stealing cattle from both ranches and altering the brands, tries to incite a lynching. Hawkins causes a confrontation between Jim and Dusty that leads to a climatic gun battle with the two old pals against the Hawkins gang.

Moonlight in Vermont (1943) as Art Director
Vermont farm girl Gwen Harding (Gloria Jean) enrolls in the Devereau School of Music in New York,and makes a singing hit at a school party. She wins the attention of student Richard "Slick" Ellis (Ray Malone)and also the jealousy of Slick's girlfriend Brenda Allenby (Vivian Austin). The school is in bad financial shape and its director, Lionel Devereau (George Dolenz),is in debt. Gwen's singing teacher from Vermont, Lucy Meadows (Fay Helm), arrives at the school and Devereau, thinking she is a job applicant, hires her as his secretary. Gwen has to leave school when her Uncle Rufus (Russell Simpson)is faced with ruin on the farm because of a shortage of help. Gwen returns and her school friends volunteer to go and help in bringing in the harvest. Gwen plans to enter her pet cow Myrtle in the stock show at the Farm Jubilee but Brenda steals and hides the cow.
