A young mountaineer leads hundreds of settlers on a difficult journey from the Mississippi River to California.
In this silent film, a woman forced into prostitution dreams of finding true love.
Chief Standing Rock's tribe has a treaty protecting their fishing grounds, but a canning corporation is violating the treaty through intimidation and force. The tribe is divided as to how to handle the threat. Standing Rock's son, Braveheart, is sent to college to study law so that he can protect their rights, but others in the tribe, led by the hot-tempered Ki-Yote, want to provoke a more violent confrontation.
It is 1774, the eve of the American War of Independence. Janice comes from a Tory household. She cavorts with American and British alike, is pursued by Charles Fownes, patriot and friend of General Washington. Fields is a comic, drunken British sergeant.
An innocent country girl (Doris Kenyon) who happens to have a lovely singing voice falls under the influence of a ruthless Broadway producer (Lowell Sherman). At first she's dazzled by the producer's surface charm as well as those bright lights the title refers to, but eventually gets a dose of reality (after accidentally becoming involved in a murder and a race against time to save a condemned man). The film also includes a truly hair-raising train crash.
